About the Organization

Biobank Väst is Västra Götaland Region's biobank. The operation is placed under the area of research, development, education, and innovation (FoUUI) at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. We are a competence center for biobank issues, handling biobank agreements and offering services for the collection, management, storage, and retrieval of biobank samples for research purposes. We are also responsible for all cold storage facilities at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. All work we do is carried out within the framework of a quality management system. Biobank Väst works in close collaboration with Core Facilities at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, and is part of the national infrastructure Biobank Sweden.

Biobank Väst currently has about 25 employees with varying backgrounds and tasks, ranging from researchers, project managers, system developers, biologists, and biomedical analysts. We are now looking for a new employee (biologist/biomedical analyst) for our lab function.

About the Position

As a biologist or biomedical analyst at Biobank Väst, you will work with the biobank's management of biological fluid and tissue samples, which includes:

• Sample reception and registration in our data system (LIMS)
• Centrifugation and aliquoting of samples into different tube formats using an automated liquid handling robot and manual procedures
• DNA extraction using an automation robot
• Isolation of PBMC under sterile conditions
• Manual retrieval and sorting of research samples from low-temperature freezers and isothermal freezers
• Collection of biobank samples

As a biologist/biomedical analyst at Biobank Väst, you will be an important actor in maintaining our quality assurance in the laboratory, where maintenance and care of equipment and the laboratory are included.

This role also includes some responsibility for project management related to Biobank Väst's cold storage facilities, aimed at meeting future needs in both research and healthcare. The work involves collaboration with relevant stakeholders to develop the infrastructure and serve as a point of contact for researchers and healthcare personnel.

The work involves a lot of personal responsibility and a systematic approach. Working hours are daytime, Monday to Friday.

About You

We are looking for someone who is a licensed biomedical analyst, or has a master's degree in biology, molecular biology, or another university education that the employer deems relevant. You have at least five years of work experience in the field. Previous experience in project management is highly meritorious.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities. You are independent in your work style and can take your own initiatives. You are helpful and guiding towards colleagues and have good collaboration skills. Additionally, you have very good administrative abilities, are structured, and are good at organizing. You appreciate working in a service organization and are committed to maintaining high-quality work. It is a significant advantage if you are communicative both verbally and in writing and can convey and receive information through meetings with others.

For the position, good knowledge of Swedish and English is required.
